Busy Couple of Weeks

Well it's been busy the last couple of weeks. Work has been too busy so I'm looking forward to the conversion happening in less than two weeks so life can get back to normal. :) I didn't have work today because I'm working tomorrow instead. I'm going to do a slide show since I haven't done one for a while.

So here are some explanations of the pictures in the slide show. Nyah loves her Nalgene with juice in it these days. She wants to take it with her all the time so you will see that in many of the pictures. You will also see her really enjoying her dinner in one of these pictures. I told Ryan that if we invited company over that didn't have little kids, they might actually lose their appetite seeing Nyah eat. It's quite the messy situation these days. You will also see a pink gerber daisy. They are in my front yard and just blossomed about a week ago. I tell Ryan how happy I am when I look at them. They are just so bright and cheerful. There is also a picture of Nyah wearing Ryan's hat and pushing a laundry basket. She has decided she likes his hats and she still loves pushing laundry baskets.

Nyah is being as cute as ever. She has been pointing to her eyes and toes for a long time but also knows where her nose, mouth, teeth, tongue, hands and feet are now. She is also starting to correctly identify things when we read her stories. We can ask where different animals are and she usually points to the right one.

We took her swimming last weekend because it was cold and rainy all weekend and two days of being inside is a long time when you are 16 months old. :) We tried a different rec center because the one we usually goes to was being worked on. It was a good thing because we found a new favorite pool. It had a fun slide for her and a big jungle gym to climb on. The water was warmer and there was even a lazy river. We had lots of fun. We need to go again this weekend and I'll try to remember to take some pictures.

Ryan is going to be starting on a big project. He has decided to build (yes that is correct - not put together from a kit but actually build) Nyah a swingset. That will keep him busy for the next few weeks.

By the way, turns out that when Ryan got that bruise on his leg he was actually trying to flip another canoe, not help them. That's quite a different story. :)

We have been watching Olympics in our spare time. We haven't had much spare time though so our DVR is just full of them. We might be watching them for weeks to come after the Olympics are already over. There are so many events I enjoy watching.

I'll attach a video at the end of Nyah dancing for Ryan one night when I was at Enrichment night. She dances at the beginning and then gets distracted with her toys. Then I also kept the part where she gets out her legos and dumps them all out. That is one of her favorite things to do. She loves her daddy and has him fully wrapped around her little finger.

We hope all is going well for all of you!

Back from Scout Camp and the Crib Drama

Well I figured Ryan would come back from scout camp/high adventure tired and dirty but I didn't except him to have bruises and swollen ankle. The bruise on his thigh and half way down his calf is from his canoe tipping over (as he was trying to help another canoe "de-swamp" their canoe) and is shown below. I don't think I've ever seen such a big, nasty bruise. Then the swollen ankle is from playing kick ball with a football because the other ball popped. Only boys think they should play kick ball with a football. It was a crazy week filled with boys getting in trouble for carving/doodling on a hand-made wooden table and for playing game boy when they were supposed to be at activities but also the good times of "king of the dock" and seeing who can repel down the cliff the fastest. I asked Ryan if he kept in mind the fact that we don't have sufficient disability insurance as he was doing all of this and he assured me "it was good". :) The scouts love Ryan and the fact that he joins in all of the games.

Regardless, Nyah and I are glad to have him back home. Saturday night was date night so Ryan and I went to see "Hancock" and went to dinner at Macaroni Grill. It had been a while since we had a date night so that was fun.

Then there was Sunday. Church was the normal battle with Nyah giving in for about a 1/2 hour toward the end. Then when we got home she was just rested enough that she didn't really think she needed a nap. Well I put her in her crib anyway because she'll usually decide she is tired after all and go to sleep. She was just playing in there and I didn't really worry about it, but should have. When I finally gave in and went to get her up, she had chewed the top edge of her crib along the front and one side. There were little sets of teeth marks up and down our "new" crib. It's funny because when we got the first crib home, there was actually a small imperfection along the top of the crib and we went to the trouble to package it back up and take it back to the store to get a new one. Good thing we worried about that! :) I couldn't believe all the teeth marks. So then I decided to wrap the top rail in towels and safety-pinned it on the outside. Boy was I grumpy! Well I've since decided she has it fully "broken-in" and we will have stories to tell her some day. :)

Now when I say, "Mommy loves..", she says "Nyah". It's enough to melt my heart. :) Another cute thing is when we are downstairs hanging out and watching TV she will decide she wants to cover us up with a blanket. If we are on our side it isn't good enough, she pulls on us until we get the point that she wants us on our stomachs. Cutie girl. She is also answering questions with a full "yes" these days. It's cute to hear her pronounce the "s" instead of just "yeah".

Well that's about it for now. We hope all is going well for all of you!

Wearing my Flip-Flops

Well it seems like little girls usually try on their mom's high heels. However, since I don't have many of those and they don't leave the closet very often, Nyah has decided to go for my flip-flops instead. She found them the other night and had Ryan put them on her so she could try to walk in them. She can't put them on herself because she can't get the piece of fabric in between her toes. Then again last night she found them and wanted to try them on. It took us quite a while to get them on the first few times but we finally have it down and we can just put them on over, and over, and over!

Here is a picture of her wearing my flip-flops and then a short video of her trying to walk around in them is at the end. She also says a few words on the video, including "Nyah".

Then the other funny thing is last night I was watching "So You Think You Can Dance" and Nyah was deciding to dance along as well. The was dancing, doing turns, and running around in circles just smiling. It was so funny. So then I really started laughing and then she thought that was funny so she started laughing also. It was great. She is quite the dancer. I wish I could have gotten it on video because it was the cutest thing ever!

We went down to storytime at the library this morning and she did well for the first 20 minutes and then it was a bit of a struggle to keep her sitting there. I need to go down there more often because it probably isn't a bad thing for her to learn to sit still for 30 minutes and the librarian does great with the stories and songs. Plus, Nyah already loves books so we need to keep that up!

Here are also a few pictures Nyah's daycare sent out the other day of her time at day care. It doesn't look like she knows quite what to think about posing for the picture on the trike (or maybe it's just because it's so bright outside), but I still think it's cute and I love the one with her and the book.

Weekends go by so FAST!

I've decided that weekends just go by too fast. This is even with me having three day weekends... We had a good weekend. We went to hang out at the park on Friday night with some other families from our ward so that was a good time. We watched the kids play on the toys and many of them gravitated to the water (of course Nyah did also).

Then on Saturday we took her to a water park. Turns out that the water wasn't warm so we didn't want the sun to be behind the clouds because we wanted all the warmth we could get. There was a slide Nyah enjoyed and then a water fountain area provided some fun also. We also went around the lazy river about a million times (okay maybe I only went around 1/2 a million times because the rest of the times Nyah and Ryan went around while they let me take a little cat nap in the sun) :) The lazy river was definitely my favorite part of the park.

When we came home and changed out of our swimming gear, Nyah decided she wanted to wear Ryan's shirt. So here she is modeling Ryan's shirt.

Then here are some pictures of Nyah and I rolling her ball back and forth. Hallie has this same shirt and last time I was at the Carter's outlet I decided Lisa did such a good job with that purchase that I should copy her. :)

We hope all of you have a great week. Ryan is going to scout camp Tuesday night so Nyah and I are going to be on our own until Saturday morning. Hopefully he has a great time at camp although we're sure he's going to miss us a ton!

A New Car

No, not a new car for Ryan - but for Nyah. Saturday night we went looking for a tricycle for Nyah but found a little car she could push herself around on and decided that would work better for now. I don't think she would quite have the pedals down anyway. Besides the car makes all sorts of fun noises (a fire engine, the radio, a police car, etc.) We decided to go look for something when she was trying to ride her little push toy we bought about 5 months ago. She is having a blast with the new car. She had to push it all around Wal-Mart (she can ride it or push it) once she saw it. We tried putting it in the cart and she wasn't having it. She was so mad so we gave in (I know, quite the parenting technique) and she pushed it the rest of the time. Here is a picture of Nyah with her new car.

Here is also a picture of her with her hat. She has decided she kind of likes hats again. She leaves them on for a lot longer and actually initiates putting them on. I'm going to have to invest in some new hats for her because they will be great to help keep her out of the sun a little since she always wants to be outside. Perfect, another excuse to shop for Nyah.... :)

Below are just a couple more pictures of her just looking cute so I thought I would share.

Everything is going well. We took Nyah swimming this weekend at the rec center and she had a great time. She really enjoyed going down the alligator slide - good times. She does love the water. We hope all is going well for all of you. On another note, I can't believe Jana is going to be leaving the MTC for Argentina in about a week - crazy!
