Ryker's Baby Blessing

So I'm super behind again but am going to try to do some catching up.  Ryker's baby blessing was the first weekend in August and we had lots of family come to join us for the event.  We appreciate your love and support. :)

It was a great weekend and the weather cooperated nicely.  We were able to spend some time outside rather than all being stuck in the house the whole time.  It was great to see everybody.

Grandpa Blanken fixed this fishing pole for Nyah and she wanted it close by her side all weekend...

Work of art by Shari.  I only make snakes with playdough.

Look at those smiles

Look at that sad face...

Picnic at the park - there were lots of rain clouds but we lucked out. I bought this canopy at Target for $40.  What a deal!

Thanks again everybody for coming.  We enjoyed your company. :)  Now I'm only 2 1/2 months behind...

Family Pictures

Shari agreed to take our family pictures when she was here for Ryker's baby blessing.  She is a life saver.  Trying to take the kiddos to a studio and have them taken is not a fun experience.  Shari is super patient with us and can just follow Nyah around.  It's quite the challenge to get pictures where Ryan and I have our eyes open, Nyah is holding still (and looking in the right direction) and Ryker is happy.  We went to a park by our house and I love how the pictures turned out.  Thanks Shari!  I owe you big time. :)  Plus how many people have a photographer who will also do their little girl's hair?  I'm so lucky!

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

This year I decided to buy an annual membership to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo instead of the Denver Zoo just to mix it up a little.  We went the first time in July.  I took Nyah and Ryker and headed off.  It was bright and sunny, but I didn't check the weather (not my best plan).  By the time we got to Colorado Springs, it was already sprinkling, but I was determined to go to the zoo after making the rather long drive down there...  The weather did improve though and we got in some good time at the zoo before it started to rain again. :) I love the giraffe exhibit where Nyah can feed them, but I haven't decided where I'll buy a membership next year.  I do know that Nyah loves any zoo.

She fed this giraffe three crackers in about three seconds - no waiting required.

Ryker - 1 month pictures

I'm obviously behind again but wanted to post a couple of pictures we took when Ryker was one month old.  It's time to start catching up again. :)

We love this cute little boy!

How about you pick?

Here are some funny things Nyah is saying these days...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#1 - Here's how a typical conversation goes:

Me:  "Nyah, what would you like to eat for breakfast?"

Nyah:  "How about macaroni and cheese?"

Me:  "Not for breakfast.  Pick something else."

Nyah:  "How about noodles?"

Me:  "Not for breakfast."

Nyah:  "How about you pick for me?"

So it's basically like she's thinking, "Why are you asking me what I want if you aren't going to let me decide anyway?  Why don't you just choose?". We have had similar conversations in different situations.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#2 - "We're out of blueberry yogurt.  Unbelievable."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#3 - Nyah:  "Daddy, will you take me to sushi when I'm older?"

Ryan:  "Yes, Nyah."

Nyah: "But I need to be much older".

I really need to start making a list of everything she wants to do when she's older because there are so many things.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#4 - Me: "I'm going to kill Toby".  (I'm saying this in frustration because he keeps jumping against the house and the sliding glass door.)

Nyah: "But then we won't have a dog".  A few minutes later she says, "How are you going to kill him?"

Me:  "I'm not really going to kill him."

Nyah:  "Oh, you're just kidding me!"

What a kiddo.  We sure love all the cute things she says.
